Box frame w/ decorative rabbit, Toasted White, Pine, poplar, cherry, walnut
Kevin creates bespoke frames for all of his work. This frame features southern yellow pine that has been treated with the “shou sugi ban” technique, of torching the wood to bring out the wood-grain.This piece is fitted with pine spacers, custom backing and mount. It is hang-ready, with picture wire attached.
A Note from the Artist:
Burning Frames is one of my favorite finishing applications. It really has an amazing away of enhancing and intensifying wood grain and looks super cool when color is added. The white wash
over the roasted pine sets it off and really compliments the aged plastic piano keys.
The block of wood, onto which the object is mounted, is made with the same techniques to make acoustic guitar bridges. This piece
has had a long journey from the dumpster to our studio so thought it was only right to compliment the craftsmen ship with different techniques from different walks of life.
